The Ministry of Information has announced the arrival of the first consignment of the COVID-19 vaccine in the country.
The announcement was made in a post on the official Instagram page of the ministry with the caption “Arrival of first consignment of covid-19 vaccines in Ghana. Live from the Kotoka Airport”.
A statement from the Information Ministry also indicated that the government is taking delivery of 600,000 doses of the vaccine.
It will be recalled that Minister for Information designate, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah over the weekend indicated that the vaccines were due to arrive in the country on Monday.
In brief comments at the Conference and Donor Presentation for the Sustainable Development of Yendi Municipal Hospital on Sunday, he noted that he was at the programme “though I have another engagement on our COVID-19 vaccines that are arriving early [Monday] morning.”
The Food and Drugs Authority has approved the AstraZeneca and Sputnik V vaccines for use in Ghana.
