Traders at Ashaiman market in the Ashaiman Municipality in the Greater Accra Region were left stranded following heavy rains on Monday night.
The predicament of the traders came after a heavy downpour destroyed shops, goods among other valuables worth over thousands of Ghana Cedis.
The floods occurred as a result of poor drainage system in the market and to the excessive dumping of refuse in the gutters could not prevent the rain water from passing through the source focing the water to overflow it’s banks.
The traders are left to transact businesses at the roadside to make ends-meet, thus causing massive traffic for drivers, motorists and pedestrians for smooth accessibility.
The traders therefore petitioned the Ashaiman Municipal Assembly to bring the situation under control to facilitate socio-economic development.
